An official visit to Pakistan by Turkey’s president has been delayed, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan was set to lead a high-level delegation to Pakistan next week, on Oct. 23.

The visit has been delayed, said the ministry, without giving a reason, adding that the “visit will take place in the near future.”

In Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Faisal also confirmed the delay.

Pakistan was readying itself to receive Erdogan with “an exemplary reception,” Asad Qaiser, the country’s National Assembly speaker, told Anadolu Agency last week in Istanbul.

The two countries enjoy strong relations.

“Pakistan and Turkey are seen as one nation. People of the both countries love each other and such kinds of affection are not seen with any other country,” said Qaiser.
