Turkish stocks start Tuesday looking down

Turkey’s benchmark stock index slipped by 0.12%, or 131.29 points, to start Tuesday at 107,873.01 points.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index hit 108,004.30 points at close, up 1.03% with a daily trading volume of 9.64 billion Turkish liras (some $1.67 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.7570 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared to 5.7530 at Monday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.3780, versus 6.3510, and one British pound traded for 7.4680 Turkish liras, while it was 7.4470 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $61.09 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
