Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump had a very productive conversation on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Turkey’s communications director said Wednesday.

“Our president had a very productive conversation with the U.S. president on the sidelines of the NATO summit,” Fahrettin Altun wrote on his Twitter account.

“The two presidents discussed the importance of Turkey fulfilling its alliance commitments, further strengthening commerce through boosting bilateral trade by $100 billion, regional security challenges and energy security,” a spokesman for the White House said.

The closed-door meeting took half an hour.

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Finance Berat Albayrak, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar, former Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, and Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin were also present at the meeting.
