Qatar’s Embassy in Ankara marked on Tuesday the country’s 141st National Day.

The celebration, which marks the establishment of the Gulf state, was attended by Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, and former Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

“The Qatari-Turkish relations have become a model for other countries and that can be seen on all levels, as our ties are based on solid and firm foundations,” Qatar’s Ambassador Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi said in his opening speech.

He went on to note that there is “perfect harmony” between his country and Turkey on regional and international issues.

Sentop, for his part, confirmed that Turkish-Qatari relations are “extremely robust.”

“The strength of these relations were manifested on different occasions, mostly, during the defeated coup attempt in the summer of 2016. Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was the first to call Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that night,” he said.

“Turkey also stood with Qatar when the Gulf crisis erupted in the summer of 2017,” he added, affirming that these relations would continue at all levels.

Qatar’s annual holiday is celebrated on Dec. 18 every year as on the same date in 1878 Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani succeeded his father as the emir and led the country toward full unity.
