PKK targets civilian settlements in SE Turkey

In attacks targeting civilians in Turkey’s southeastern Mardin province on October 15, 2019, the terrorist YPG/PKK injured many people. The terror group fired mortar bombs from northern Syria at a civilian settlement in the rural area of the province’s Kiziltepe district. The injured civilians were transferred to hospitals. Earlier today, the terror group also fired mortar bombs from Syria’s border city of Kobane city at a civilian camp in Jarablus, which has been captured from the Daesh terror group in 2016 during Turkey’s Operation Euphrates Shield. Three children were injured in the attack. Turkey on Oct. 9 launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity. Ankara wants to clear northern Syria east of the Euphrates River of the terrorist PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD/YPG. In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union — has been responsible for deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
