Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal against Ukraine in the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers late Monday.

Ronaldo’s goal from penalty kick was not enough to bring a win in Kiev as Ukraine beat Portugal 2-1 in the Group B match.

Following this victory, Ukraine qualified for the EURO 2020 finals. They had 19 points in seven matches.

Portugal are still in the second spot in the group standings with 11 points.

Ronaldo, 34, scored 95 goals for Portugal in 162 appearances since Aug. 2003.

He managed to net 605 goals in 811 club appearances.

During his career Ronaldo played for four clubs, Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon, English club Manchester United, Spanish giants Real Madrid and Italian powerhouse Juventus.

From 2009 to 2018, Ronaldo was a vital player for Real Madrid, scoring 450 goals for “Los Blancos” (The Whites).

Separately, several teams directly went to the EURO 2020 finals after Sunday’s and Monday’s matches.

Group B winners Ukraine, Group G winners Poland, Group I winners Belgium and runners-up Russia, Group J winners Italy booked their places each for the EURO 2020 finals.
