Turkey does not have its eye on the territory of any country, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reiterated during his speech at the TRT World Forum, which kicked off on Monday in Istanbul.

Erdoğan added that Turkey would take further “necessary” steps in northeastern Syria after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, when a five-day Washington-brokered ceasefire expires.

“We will take up this process with Mr Putin and after we will take the necessary steps,” he said.

He also sharply criticized the countries that did not support Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring in northern Syria, saying: “Since when has the YPG/PYD become a member of NATO?”

Erdoğan added that the world needs to analyze Turkey by distancing themselves from the existing historical and political bigotry that leads them to voice terror organizations’ point of view.

Turkey on Oct. 9 launched Operation Peace Spring to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.
