An explosion in an offset mine in the East German town of Teutschenthal injured at least two people on Friday, according to local reports.

Up to 30 people are still underground but in a secure area, according to the Mitteldeutsche daily, which quoted an unidentified police spokeswoman.

Rescue efforts by emergency services are underway at the mine, reports added.
