Morocco’s King Mohammed VI on Friday called for lifting of the blockade imposed by Israel on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Mohammed VI made this statement in a letter to Niang Cheikh, the chairman of UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

He said that continuing the blockade on the Gaza Strip will increase the state of despair, frustration and instability.

He also added that more than two million Palestinians in Gaza are suffering a collective punishment along with the repercussions of the 12-year-old Israeli blockade which exacerbated their living conditions.

Mohammed VI called for bringing the Palestinian cause to the core priorities of the world and said the two-state solution remains the basis to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The king concluded his letter by calling on the Palestinians to achieve national reconciliation and overcome the current political division.
