Turkish Foreign Ministry on Thursday offered condolences to Pakistan after 65 people were killed in a train accident.

“We heard the news with deep sorrow that a fire onboard a train heading from Karachi to Rawalpindi caused the loss of many lives,” the ministry said in a statement.

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who have lost their lives in this tragic accident, speedy recovery to those who were injured, and convey our condolences to the friendly Government and the brotherly people of Pakistan,” the statement added.

At least 30 people were also injured at the accident when a fire broke out Thursday morning on a passenger train in country’s northeast.
